Where was In Bruges filmed?

In Bruges is, among other things, a love letter to its setting, and one delivered with a wonderfully sour edge. Half the comedy comes from one character finding the medieval Belgian city impossibly charming while the other is bored stiff by all the history. That push and pull makes the place irresistible to fans: a fairy-tale town that the film both adores and gently mocks, and that you can stroll for yourself.

Everything takes place in the real Bruges, in Belgium. The medieval Belfry rising over the market square, with its long climb and dizzying view, is the site of the film's vertiginous final showdown. Just nearby, the canal corner of Rozenhoedkaai, the most photographed view in the whole city, features in the pair's wanderings through the old town, all gabled houses, still water and chiming bells.
