Filming No Time to Die: locations and how to visit
Globe-trotting and gorgeously shot, this entry in the long-running spy saga sent its hero across some of Europe's most dramatic landscapes, and gave two very different destinations a major moment in the spotlight. From an ancient hillside city in southern Italy to a wild, weather-beaten coast in Norway, the film once again proved that the franchise's locations are half the thrill.
Two standouts bookend the action. In Italy, the Sassi di Matera, the honey-coloured cave districts and ravine bridges of this extraordinary old city, stage the film's explosive opening car chase, a high-octane dash through streets carved from stone over millennia. Far to the north, the Atlantic Ocean Road in Norway, with its low bridges leaping between islets along a storm-lashed coastline, features in another of the film's breakneck pursuits.
For set-jetters, these two are very different trips, and both reward the journey. Matera, in the Basilicata region, is now a celebrated destination in its own right, easily folded into a tour of southern Italy. Norway's Atlantic Road is a bucket-list drive best tackled by car, ideally on a moody day for the full effect. Pair either with the wider region around it for a trip that turns the film's set pieces into real-world adventure.
